THE CHALLENGE

It all started in 2020 my co-founder, Ambika Nigam, and I set out to rethink how individuals navigate modern careers. With work discontent at a new high, the great resignation drove people to re-imagine what a better future could look like and explore new pathways to pivot into roles.

We found people were ripe with both hard and soft skills that were transferrable and valuable to many other roles but they lacked the ability and confidence to seek out and land their pivots. So we started to prototype new ideas and tools including digital courses and events aiding over 20K+ Knowledge Workers in career transitions. Through this experimentation, we identified a shared goal between companies and candidates, finding “fit” fast and early.

This led us to create “Try-on Challenges” that were bite-sized simulations of real responsibilities set in the context of the company for high volume and soft skill based roles, reducing time to hire by 75% and saved over 92 hours in applicant screening time. We eventually expanded to over 20K candidates and forged partnerships with more than 20 companies. I lead the product and experience strategy and vision and led the product, design, and engineering team.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Raised pre-seed funding from notable investors, including Polymath Capital and Susa Ventures, and received industry recognition as a finalist in the Hearst Lab Pitch competition and winner of the ERA Female Founders Pitch Competition.

THE SOLUTION

A unique candidate screening experience that dramatically reduces time to hire, roots out bias, and helps both parties evaluate role “fit”.

Candidates are able to try on a role via a smart job description or post-application email. They are given bite simple tasks that take 5-10 minutes to complete that are real simulations of key responsibilities. Candidates come away with a more complete picture of what the role entails and appreciate this low-touch way of understanding the role without a lot of effort.
